Scotland is like an outdoor playground. Big rivers, lakes, animals, and parks. We only saw a small portion of it back in October but we would love to go back and see more soon. We flew into Edinburgh and stayed 3 nights in Pitlochry, right on the edge of Cairngorms National Park. It was really nice to park it for a few nights in one place instead of trying to see it all in one go.

The Kelpies. A good first stop on the way to Pitlochry.
Our second stop was Stirling Castle.
View from the castle

The drive to Pitlochry from Edinburgh without stops is only about an hour and a half but we took our time and made a few stops to see The Kelpies and Stirling Castle. When we got to Pitlochry we turned the heat on in our Airbnb and went for a walk to wait for the heat to spread through the house. Brrr! Pitlochry is really a beautiful little town.

It was such a blast catching up with my parents for a few days and exploring the area. We were able to enjoy some lovely walks in Pitlochry, even the walk to and from Edradour Distillery was beautiful.

It was rather chilly when we were visiting so we gave in to the weather and opted for a reindeer adventure instead of climbing a mountain. Yes, I said reindeer and it ended up being our favorite experience of the trip! We drove into the Cairngorms National Park and visited the Cairngorm reindeer herd. It was touristy so we didn’t have super high expectations but we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of time we were given to hang out and feed the reindeer. I 100% recommend this experience. Worth the time and money.

What a magical experience. I can’t wait to go back for more hikes and animal sightings, planned or unexpected.
